Conservation Status

Kakapo are critically endangered as there are under 80 birds left. Organizations have been transporting these birds to remote islands in hopes of getting the population back up. The islands are only accessible by authorized personnel and it is nearly impossible for stray animals to get there. They are hoping to keep the Kakapo's all in one area so it would be easier to keep track of them and increase the population.
