The Saracens fought in the crusades against Richard the Lionheart who ultimately massacred them and conquered them, recapturing the city of Jerusalem in the year 1191.

Crusades

The name Saracens however, was pinned to any Muslim fighting in the crusades. It was used by European Christian Knights to denote their foes in the Holy Land.
