The contrasting themes and traditions in Classical and Baroque Sculpture
Desargues
Desargues (February 21, 1591- September, 1661)
In 1636, Desargues produced his infamous "perspective theorem," which states, "When two triangles are in perspective, the points where the corresponding sides meet are collinear.”
Desargues was born to a wealthy Lyon family. By 1626, Desargues was in Paris working as a military engineer and architect. He was an active member of the Paris Mathematical Group (the group included René Descartes, Etienne Pascal, and his son Blaise Pascal).
