Floodlights

The curve of the surface of a floodlight is designed in the shape of a hyperbola with the light source positioned at one focus. Light emitted from the focus leaves the hyperbola in parallel paths. Floodlights have the shape of a parabola to increase the intensity of the light and direct the light.
