Early Life

* Born into the Ruler-Warrior Caste

* Got schooling in Rajkot, but did not prove a good student

* Married Kasturbai in May of 1883

* Had four children, the first being born when he was 15 years old

* Went to the University of London at age 18, to study law

* Followed Hindu rules to not eat meat or drink alcohol
