Domestic & Relationship Violence

One day when I picked Paige up from school, she shared with me that one of her friends are getting hurt. I asked by who and she said her mommy and daddy. It was hard to believe, because the girls parents were so sweet. Later that day, I contacted Lena's parents asking about the bruises on her arms and legs. Her mother, Jessica said she'd fallen off the slide at the playground. After hearing that I let it go, but Paige kept bringing it up so I contacted her grandparents and all they said was they'd take care of it. When I got home I went to Texas DFPS site and they said to bring it to an authorities attention. At first, I told myself I'd let Lena's grandparents handle but I felt so bad for her, being that she was so innocent and didn't deserve the treatment she might be receiving. A week later, I called her grandparents to see how things were going. They said Lena was staying with them for a while, they also said Jessica and Bryan were in a treatment center getting help for Lena. While on the phone I told her grandmother about the places I'd found the previous week for Lena. I told her about Texas Cild Protective Services, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Tiffany Smith Counseling, Inc., Warner Family Counseling, and many more with all of their information. She thanked me and said she'd look into them. I call and check on Lena every now and then sometimes I bring the girls for ice cream after school.
