CHEMICALS IN PONDS AFFECTS

Tailing ponds are storage spaces for the tailing, the toxic waste left from mining. Some of the most common chemicals found in them includes arsenic, mercury, sulfur, and radioactive minerals. If those tailing ponds were to become damaged or even if some of the chemicals were to leak out, it would release all the chemicals and toxicwaste into nearby streams and seep into the ground causing the water to become contaminated. This would degrade the quality of the water because now the water is poisonous and cannot be used and if they're drank or used, they would cause lots of health problems for the people and the environment.
