Impact
-Trench warfare impacted WW1 greatly. Although soldiers were protected from enemy gunfire in trenches, poisonous gas attacks left them vulnerable, as the gas stayed in the trenches, leaving the soldiers to either die in the trenches or escape and be shot down.
-These gas weapons led to the first gas masks, using designs which are still used in protective masks today.
-The trenches were incredibly unsanitary, and as such, even soldier's smallest wounds got life threatening infections, with disease running rampant throughout the trenches.
