776 BC- The first Olympic Games called pan-Hellenic Olympic Games. The names Olympics come from the name Olympia where the games were held. Some think that this date is wrong, but others believe it. The winners were given a red ribbon tied to their head, a palm branch to hold and the crowds would throw flowers.
