The colossal statue of Jesus Christ built in 1931 and the height is debatable. The statue has horizontal arms that ex-spanned 92 feet. It is made out of sandstone tiles. You can also walk inside it all the way to the head to see the gorgeous city of Rio de Janeiro. In 1921, somebody had the idea of placing a statue on top of Mount Corcovado. The construction began in 1920's. It took 9 years to finish the whole statue. The whole statue weights about 635 tons. It is one of Brazil's most famous icons. The materials to build the statue came from Sweden.
Back in 1931 the cost was $250,000 for the whole statue, but today the cost would be about 3.2 million dollars.
