Christ the Redeemer was actually in a vicious storm. The statue was struck several times during the storm causing damage to its face and right hand. The construction to fix the statue would take four months. Before the construction, Christ the Redeemer already had additional damage to it. Christ the Redeemer to rebuild it took $4 million dollars.
Fun fact!
