During Muhammad Ali's lifetime, he broke many color barriers when he became a boxing champion. He inspired many others to rebel against racism. He also preached freedom and encouraged opposition to the Vietnam War.

Since Muhammad Ali's time, numerous blacks have broken color barriers in various sports, and equality is more commonplace.
