Space Exploration

A lot of things had to be overcome in order to make spacecrafts for missions into space, including how to safely travel through Earth’s atmosphere.

The rockets engines needed to be able to escape the Earth’s gravitational pull.

Before scientists made spacecraft that could take humans, scientists experimented with many unmanned-vehicles.

For many years the shuttle program took astronauts into orbit around Earth and to the International Space Station.

The International Space Station was beginning to be built in 1998. It is a satellite that orbits earth for scientists to research space and to test spacecraft.

The Moon is a possible site for a human base and may in the future be used as a station for transporting needed materials for the astronauts. This would give us an advantage for efforts to send a to another planet.
