Inclined planes-An inclined plane is a simple ramp.
As an inclined plane increases in length, the amount of force decreases.
Increases the distance the object moves
Height of an inclined plane effects the force needed
Steeper inclined planes require more force therefore it requires less force over a longer distance
Pulleys:
Single fixed pulley
Changes the direction of the effort force
No mechanical advantage
Effort force=the load force
Single movable pulley
Reduces the force in half
Mechanical advantage is 2
Increases the distance the rope is pulled
A pulley system is a rope attached to a wheel and a load.
As the length of the pulley system increases, the amount of force decreases.
