the mughal empire was founded by a chagatai turkic prince named babur in 1526. he was a son of the turkic conqueror timor and inherited some of his power. but in order to satisfy his thirst for power, he conquered an indian territory, punjab. the key leaders for the mughal empire were babur, his son humayun, and his akbar.
