Describe the use of janissary corps

The janissary corps were a form of military institution in the Ottoman Empire. The janissaries were created under Murad II as an elite corp for the ottoman military. Even outside of the military, the janissaries lived and resided under rule of the sultans. Over time however  the janissaries sought to gain power for themselves instead of the empire.
