• FROST - WEDGING : for 200 days of the year in this area, it goes above AND below freezing so melted water fills in the cracks and crevices and at night freezes and expand 9% and exerts a force of 2,000-20,000 pounds per square in. and over time it shatters 

• CHEMICAL WEATHERIN : rain water is naturally acidic and slowly dissolves the limestone, rounding edges and washing away debris
