Gary's Poem "Oranges"...

The poem "Oranges" or " a fire in my hands" is about a boy on a cold winter day. When he left his house with two oranges in his pocket, to go see his sweetheart girlfriend. They came upon a drug store and ended up at the candy aisle. He said she could have any piece of candy she wanted. Without hesitation she chose a candy bar. He pulled out his money from his pocket but he didn't have enough money to pay for the candy bar. While she wasn't looking he asked the store clerk for some more money the clerk gladly gave him the extra amount. He paid for the candy bar and gave it to her. Her face lit up with delight. As they left he pulled out one of his oranges, and as he held it it was though he was holding a fire in his hand.
