The horse is one of two extant subspecies of Equus ferus. It is an odd-toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae.

Lifespan: 25 – 30 years.

Gestation period: 340 d.

Speed: 40 – 48 km/h (Galloping), 19 – 24 km/h (Canter), 6.4 km/h on average (Walk), 13 – 19 km/h (Trot).

Horses use their ears, eyes and nostrils to express their mood. They also communicate their feelings through facial expressions.
