The Huang He River (Yellow River) is one of the two main rivers in China. It is over 3,000 miles long. The river's source is in the Kunlun Mountains, and it empties into the Bohai Sea. The yellow-brown silt from the river, gives it its name.
The Huang He river is known as the birthplace of Chinese civilization. This was the most prosperous region in ancient China. All of the capitals and important cities of several dynasties were located around here.
