Triumph of the Will (1934)
by L. Riefenstahl

2. Mass Media

further reading to the Hitler myth:
The "Hitler myth" : image and reality in the Third Reich, by Ian Kershaw (Oxford University Press,1989)

"Triumph of Will" by Leni Riefenstahl is a Nazi propaganda film, shown the first time in March 1935 in Berlin, after that in German cinemas and in German schools. It refers to the party really of 1934 of the same title. The predecessor film "Triumph of Faith" was far less successful than "Triumph of Will" due to its missing aesthetics and choreography. "Triumph of Will" was forbidden after 1945 in Germany. Riefenstahl's role as artist led to many discussions in Germany about ethical responsibilities of artists during the "Third Reich".
