The Battle of Yorktown ended in the result of being an American victory. On the American side 72 men were killed, 180 men were wounded and none were captured. While on the British, 309 men were killed, 326 were wounded, and 8007 men were captured by the Americans and French. These results made it clear that the battle was an American victory. General Cornwallis and the British surrendered made an attempt to surrender to the French ashamed of losing to the Continental Army. However, Britain was forced to surrender to the Americans.
