-Mass Transit was business people's form of public transportation

- By late 1860s New York built above road street railroads, Chicago followed them doing the same thing

- Electric trolleys became popular too in the 1890s

- They carried people to and from work

- They were cheap and fast

- Subways and commuter trains allowed people to live in the suburbs while working in the cities
