Treaty of Versailles
Peace treaty that ended WWI written at conference in Versailles, France.
The effects on Germany:
- had to give up 14% if it's land to other countries
- had to sign the "War Guilt Clause," in which Germany had to accept complete blame for starting WWI
- had to make high reparation payments (apology money) to other countries (about $64 billion)
- had to limit its military
Hitler called this treaty "the greatest villainy of the century."
