A trait controlled by just one gene is a single-gene trait . Single-gene traits may have just two phenotypes.
Single-gene traits
Example: in one type of snail, a single gene controls stripes on the shell, the gene has two allels, one for striped and one for plain shells. There are only two possible phenotypes.: with or without stripes.
