Lennie's Puppy symbolizes the power and victory of the strong over the weak. Throughout the book, Lennie continues to fail to recognize his own strength. Lennie kills the thing he wants and cares about-a puppy. Ultimately, this foreshadows how Lennie will keep George and himself from realizing their dream. The puppy has innocence similar to Lennie. This innocence is a potential downfall of Lennie and leads to his death.
