Surgeries

•Soon after they were born they had to have their liver separated because it was causing one of the twins hearts to beat too fast.


• After six weeks of rest from the first surgery, they were ready for the full separation on April 22.

• It took about 14 hours and 40 physicians, nurses, and surgical techs.

• The surgeons had to separate their shared pericardium that surrounded both of their hearts.

• They had to divide a bridge that was connecting their hearts, which was about 1/3 of an inch wide, and 1 in long.

• At 3:52 pm on April 22, they were fully separated.
