How did feudalism start?
Feudalism started when the Vikings and other invaders posed a threat to the safety of the people through out Europe.
Rulers found it extremely difficult to protect their people and started turning to local aristocrats, or nobles, for protection.
In order to have protection, the people needed to find a powerful ruler who could provide the right type of protection in return for service. That lead to a new social system called Feudalism.
