Customs in Laos

- Before entering someone's home, you must take your shoes off, and leave them outside or in the stairs.

- If your host is sitting down, you must sit down as well, because you shouldn't sit higher than them if you want to be a respectful person. It is also polite to crouch down when walking by someone who is sitting down.

- If they serve you water, you should probably accept, even if you won't drink it.

- A coming of age ceremony in Laos, is one where the boys will now be able to marry. They kneel in the middle of the room, while their elders chant and place paper on their heads. The paper then is trimmed, and the pieces that have fallen in the floor are then set in fire.
