How did men in the south survive in the 1861

Only a tiny fraction of any soldier’s time was spent in front line combat. Instead, the vast majority of his existence revolved around the monotonous routines of camp life, which presented its own set of struggles and hardships. They had to over come the sickness of the disease of the corpses of their fellow soldiers. Plus they also had to live with rations, tents for homes and no showers.
