Fundamentalist governments have control in many areas. The Middle East is full of countries controlled by extremists. This image displays a Free Syrian Army fighter patrolling the streets of Syria. Many governments in the Middle East are weak, making them targets to extremist groups. This picture was taken September 10, 2012. The setting is the streets of the Amariya district in Aleppo, Syria. The fundamentalists wish to take charge of their countries to ensure that the rules of their religions are obeyed and respected. Extremist groups often form militias to cripple the already weak governments. These fundamentalists are usually extremely strict with matters concerning their religion and are quick to resort to violence. This is similar to Persepolis because civilians were often scared to speak out against the extremists.
