WHO WROTE THE GOSPELS???
-John Mark, or Mark, actually wrote the book of Mark.
-The Gospel of Matthew was most likely written by a Jewish scribe, who had a thorough knowledge of Palestine and Jewish customs.
-The books of Luke and Acts of the Apostles, were written by a Gentile Christian.
- The Gospel of John may have been written by St. Irenaeus in several stages and edited by different people.
Saint Matthew:
-He was an apostle.
-He witnessed the resurrection and the Ascension.
- Matthew was a tax collector.
- He was one of the 12 disciples.
Saint Luke:
- Luke was a doctor.
-Luke stayed with Paul once when they were imprisoned in Rome.
-His Gospel is on the poor.
-He was a faithful friend and traveler.
Saint Mark:
- He was highly esteemed in the Church
- Associated with St. Paul and St. Barnabas.
- He most likely wrote his Gospel for a non-Jewish Gentile Christian audience.
Saint John:
- He was one of Jesus's specially chosen Apostles.
-He witnessed the Transfiguration and the raising of Jairus's daughter.
- John was a close associate of John son of Zebedee.
