THE RED CROSS

Once the war broke out the American Red Cross dispatched 170 surgeons and nurses to provide relief on both sides of the war.
WHAT DID THEY DO
The Red Cross movement called for strict observance of neutrality and impartiality.
Additional supplies followed but the Red Cross ended this effort after a year because there was a lack of funding.
