The contrasting themes and traditions in Classical and Baroque Sculpture
Poet
Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes was born February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri. Hughes' parents split early in his life and he would wind up to be raised by his grandmother. During his teen years, Hughes' grandmother would die and he would move around with his mother. Hughes' literary work would begin during the time him and his mother settled in Cleveland, Ohio. One of his teachers introduced him to the works of Carl Sandburg and Walt Whitman. These two poets would become known as Hughes' inspiration. During high school, Hughes contributed to the literary magazine and also other poetry magazines, although he would be rejected.
