4. Magellan’s Voyage

Ferdinand Magellan was the first person to sail around the entire world. His voyage started in 1519, lasted 3 years and hundreds of people lost their lives while on this voyage. Magellan's voyage did manage to change Europe's knowledge on world geography. Magellan gave the "Pacific Ocean" it's name and his voyage sparked a treaty between Spain and Portugal.
