3. Vasco Da Gama
Vasco Da Gama was a Portuguese explorer who was sent on two expeditions to India by King John II. On his first expedition only, he spent 2 years away from home. The expedition was not successful because of a clash with Muslim traders and the leader of India. The second expedition was more successful, but Gama died while in India in 1524.
