The Battle of Vicksburg
The battle of Vicksburg took place at Mississippi, starting on May 18, 1863. This battle was also know as the Siege of Vicksburg. This battle was the climatic point of a long land and naval campaign by the Union to get a key strategic position. President Lincoln noticed the importance of the towns settlement on the 200 foot bluff above the Mississippi River.
