A. What kinds of problems were created as a result of two separate Korean states being set up in 1948?
When Korea was divided into the separate states of the Republic of Korea and the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, there were problems that arose. There were several political issues that were created because the 2 new leaders had different opinions and therefore butted heads. Also, there were people who still wanted to unite Korea and tried to do so by force.
B. Describe what took place on the morning of June 25th, 1950.
The unstable political situation in Korea came to a head. Determined to unify Korea by force, the Pyongyang regime ordered more than one hundred thousand troops across the thirty-eighth parallel in a surprise attack. This pushed back South Korean defenders and they captured Seoul.
C. How did the United States convince the United Nations to support intervention in Korea?
The Korean Invasion was sanctioned by the USSR so the United States lost no time convincing the UN to intervene.
