Description

The Tipulid "crane" fly is found worldwide. They are very common in northern latitudes and high elevations. The crane fly has a long, thin body and long legs. It's wingspan is usually 1.0-6.5 cm. This species of fly is often confused with a larger mosquito because of its similar appearance. They have a lifespan of 10-15 days. They eat all different kinds of plants.
