In the middle of the story Attean tought Matt how to hunt and Matt tought Attean English and when Attean heard anything with slavery in books he would get mad. But when Matt hunted his way Attean said no and Matt got mad so Matt hated Attean most of the time then. Matt didn't care because he knew his father would be coming with is Mom and sister with the new baby along the way but then Attean brought Matt to see the beaver tribe symbols and the turtle tribe symbols and if there was a animals trapped with a turtle symbol it means don't touch it. After that Attean took Matt to meet his no good dog and his village and Ateans grandmother didn't like white men because her daughter was killed by a white man but let Matt compete in fun games.
