Hegel vs. Kierkegaard

Hegel and Kierkegaard had opposing view of the individuals role in society. Hegel said that because the individual presupposes the existence of a society it is the responsibility of the individual is to carry on history
Kierkegaard said that the individuals ekes meaningful truths that are relative to each person, the existentialist question is, What is the purpose for human existence?
