Justification
Why we should promote Volunteerism
Volunteering can help students expand their network and create relationships with mentors outside of the classroom or school. Volunteerism is a great way to show college admission officials that a student cares about their community, and is able to manage their time well enough to balance a volunteer job with their other commitments. A sustained commitment to a cause is impressive. Also, volunteering provides an opportunity for career exploration and allows students to develop new and transferable skills.
SBCUSD aims to have all high school students graduate with 100 hours of community service.
Benefits of Volunteerism
Students who participate in community service are 22% more likely to graduate from college.
