History of the United Kingdom
Before the name United Kingdom, it was separated into 4 parts, which are know known as Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. But even before that, Britain was the victim of Roman invasions during the first century. This brought up contact with continental Europe. The Celtic people of Wales and Scotland were unaffected by these upcoming invasions. It wasn't until the 10th century where the Britons were forced into these countries due to the establishment of Angelo-Saxon kingdoms rapidly growing. The countries were untainted under the rule of the Wessex kings. England, who was a unified group since this time, where they joined up with Wales under the Act of Union in 1536, and did the same with Scotland, forming what we know as Great Britain. The six northern countries of Ireland joined Great Britain, under the Irish treaty of 1921. The name, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was adopted shortly in 1927.
