Measles is an airborne disease that affects the respiratory system. It is only carried in humans. Without treatment, it can result in pneumonia and eventually death. In the West it is generally a reasonably to control because of the vaccine MMR, which fights against not only measles, but also mumps and rubella, which are also caused by a paramyxoviruses. In rural and developing countries, it is much more deadly, resulting in nearly 1 million deaths per year. Children are especially susceptible to Measles.
