The poem “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou represents the idea that she has conquered the stereotypes and struggles that her and her ancestors have gone through. She confidently talks about how words will not bring her down or effect her, and she will rise. It also shows that she has succeeded and became everything that her ancestors wanted, by being a “voice” or representation of her race.
