3. Monroe Doctrine

A. The Monroe Doctrine kept Europeans from moving to the Western Hemisphere, thus allowing the U.S. to move into Latin America.

B. The U.S. had strong military presence in Latin America thus allowing them to keep imperial and political authority over the areas.

C. The Philippines had an unstable government which allowed the U.S to set up an imperial one in the nation. This action led to unrest and eventually war.
