Mythical Beast Poem

I once had a dream where a lit candle chased me

It was tall and slender and colored pink

And standing still looked as pretty as a sunset

But when it leaned forward boiling wax ran down its body

Like lava flowing from a volcano

Wanting to melt every creature in its path

Slowly slithering this sly serpent snaked towards me

Leaving behind a bubbling trail of destruction

Its orange flame glowing and growing

Its heat warming my skin uncomfortably

Eyes widening in fear, I backed away

Suddenly, it hurled itself like a flaming spear

Breathless I awoke and saw my pink night light shining in the dark
