Memorare in the Snow

In February 1823, a Marist brother became seriously ill. When finding out about the news, Marcellin set out on foot in the snow with Br. Stanislaus. On the return journey, they caught got in a heavy snowstorm.

They could go no further and took shelter under a tree. They realized that they would die of exposure before long.

The two then said the Memorare. After finishing their prayer, they saw a lantern moving in the distance . A farmer had gone to check his stable from an outside door even though he had acces to his stable from the inside of his house.

The farmer allowed them to stay the night in his house. Marcellin and Br. Stanislaus were convinced had the prayer had been heard and the heavenly mother had saved them.
