The start of it all

July 24th Belgian government had announced that if war came it would uphold its neutrality.

The Belgian government mobilized its armed forces on July 31st.

On August 1st Germany had sent an ultimatum to Belgium, demanding passage through the country for German forces to invade Luxembourg.

Days later the Belgian government denied request and British government guaranteed military support to Belgium.

The German government declared war on Belgium August 4th 1914.
