German assault on liege
On August 5th the German army launches its assault on the city of liege in Belgium, violating the later countries neutrality and beginning the first battle of WWI.
Within one day they had sent over their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd armies. In total, seven German armies, with a total of 1.5 million soldiers being assembled along the Belgian and French frontiers.
